Songs in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
Guitar Hero III features 73 songs on the game's media; this includes the 39 single-player songs, three "Boss Battle" songs, six co-op career exclusive songs, and 25 bonus songs. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions support downloadable content in the form of new songs for the game. As of September 12, 2008, there are 59 songs available as downloadable content for both platforms, bringing the total number of available songs for these versions to 132. Four downloadable songs were only available for a limited time. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions each had an exclusive song.
Guitar Hero III features 73 songs spread across both the Solo and Co-Op Career modes.[1] These songs are arranged in eight sequential tiers based on their relative difficulty. The player(s) must complete some or all of the songs in one tier (based on the career difficulty selected), including the Encore, to access the next one. During the Solo Career mode, the player will also encounter three Boss Battles, a new mode introduced in Guitar Hero III, at the ends of three tiers as listed below, prior to performing the Encore song. The player must attempt the Boss Battle three times, but after the third time the player has the option of passing the Boss Battle in order to continue progression in the game. However, this option is only available for the first two boss battles (Slash and Tom Morello), Lou has to be beaten to finish the game. In Co-Op Career mode, the players only perform the first six tiers, do not encounter any Boss Battles, and have different Encore songs from the Solo Career mode.[2]
Once a tier is open at any difficulty level, all songs except the Encores and Boss Battle songs become available for all other game modes; the Encore songs become available once they are completed. The three Boss Battle songs are not playable outside of Solo Career mode. However, these songs were available as free downloadable content for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game. All songs (except Boss Battles) can be unlocked for all modes through special cheat codes for the game, as to, for example, allow a solo player to access the Co-Op Encore songs without having to play through Co-Op mode.
Downloadable songs
Both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 version of Guitar Hero III feature the ability to download additional songs from the consoles' respective online stores. Most songs must be purchased in "track packs" of three and cannot be purchased individually while only some songs are available as "singles." There are a number of free songs available. The downloadable songs have been released on the same day on both the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store, with five exceptions. Besides the two console-exclusive songs, the three songs from the Companion Pack were not released for the PlayStation 3 until August 7, 2008.

Songwriters: Followill, Caleb; Followill, Jared; Followill, Matthew; Followill, Nathan;
I've been roaming around, I was looking down at all I see
Painted faces fill the places I can't reach
You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody
Someone like you and all you know and how you speak
Countless lovers under cover of the street
You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody
Someone like you
Off in the night while you live it up I'm off to sleep
Waging wars to shake the poet and the beat
I hope it's gonna make you notice
I hope it's gonna make you notice
Someone like me, someone like me
Someone like me, somebody
I'm ready now, I'm ready now
I'm ready now, I'm ready now
I'm ready now, I'm ready now
I'm ready now
Someone like you, somebody
Someone like you, somebody
Someone like you, somebody
I've been roaming around, I was looking down at all I see

WA-CITY OF TUMWATER HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

CITY OF TUMWATER
HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The City of Tumwater, in conjunction with the Tumwater School District, will once again be coordinating a Holiday Assistance Program to provide gifts to children in the Tumwater School District.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The City has been helping families in Tumwater for many years. The main focus of the program is to provide at least one new toy or gift to a child that might not otherwise receive one, plus a holiday meal for the family in the form of a grocery store gift certificate (funds permitting).
HOW IT WORKS:
Applications for assistance are available at Tumwater City Hall or through the school counselor. The completed application must be returned in person to City Hall where a brief review is made to complete any missing information and answer any questions. There is coordination with other assistance organizations, such as The Salvation Army, to avoid duplication of services. Individual citizens and/or groups then pick up tags with specific toy/gift requests and return them unwrapped to City Hall where City staff volunteers collect and sort them. Non-specific toys are also donated and distributed. A representative of the family comes to City Hall where they pick up bags concealing the unwrapped toys, plus a grocery certificate. The City also supplies each family with gift wrap, tags and tape so the parents can feel part of the gift-giving.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Here’s the part where you or your group help make this program a success:
1) Donate new unwrapped toys – pick up a specific request or bring in any new toy;
2) Adopt a family. We provide you the information and gift request(s) for a family and you contact them directly;
3) Have a fund-raiser or toy drive and donate the toys or money to the program (the Committee uses money donations to fill special requests if a tag is not taken and to buy grocery certificates).
OUR TIMELINE:
The following is the time line we have established for the program this year:
- Applications - available beginning 11/03/08; due back no later than 11/26/08.
- Specific toy/gift tags - available by 12/01/08; to be returned unwrapped to City Hall no later than 12/12/08.
- Non-specific donations will be accepted through 12/12/08.The City will distribute the toys and gifts to families on 12/15/08.
- Questions? Please call (360) 754-4128, leave your name and number and someone will get back to you quickly.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
ADOPT A FAMILY INFORMATION - We prefer to have this form emailed to: Meeting_Rooms@ci.tumwater.wa.us. If that is not possible, it can be mailed to Hanna Miles, Administration Dept, City of Tumwater, 555 Israel Rd. SW, Tumwater, WA 98501

AHA Recommendation
- Choose 2–3 servings of fat-free or low-fat dairy products for adults. Children should have two or more servings, teenagers and older adults should have four.
- For dessert or snacks, choose ice milk, frozen or fruited low-fat or nonfat yogurt, sherbet, sorbet or low-fat puddings.

Poultry breasts are only one option. Other parts of the bird are cheaper. A whole bird? Even better.
Boneless Thighs
Bone-in chicken thighs are cheaper than boneless ones, and boning is a quick and easy process. Learn how in our Photo Tutorial.

Cabbage Cooking Tips
Recipes:
Stuffed Cabbage Rolls Recipe
1 lb. hamburger
1 lb. pork sausage
1/3 c. uncooked instant rice
1 med. onion, chopped
Salt & pepper to taste
1/8 tsp. garlic salt
1 can tomato sauce (15 oz.)
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tbsp. water
12 cabbage leaves
Cover cabbage rolls with boiling water. Cover and let stand until leaves are limp, about 10 minutes. Remove leaves; drain. Mix hamburger, pork sausage, rice, onion, salt, pepper, garlic salt and 1/2 of tomato sauce. Place hamburger mixture in each cabbage leaf, roll up, tucking all sides under. Place cabbage rolls seam side down in ungreased baking dish. Mix remaining tomato sauce, sugar and lemon juice. Pour over cabbage rolls. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water in saucepan. Stir in liquid from cabbage rolls. Heat to boiling, boil 1 minute. Serve sauce over cabbage rolls.
Fried Cabbage Recipe
1/2 lb. bacon, fried and crumbled
1 sm. head cabbage, shredded
1 pkg. Lipton creamy garlic pasta,
cooked by pkg. directions
Fry cabbage to desired doneness. Add pasta and bacon. Serve hot.
Marinated Cole Slaw Recipe
1 med. head cabbage, shredded
1 med. onion, sliced thin
Cover this with 1/2 cup sugar.
Bring to boil:
1 c. mild vinegar
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. prepared mustard
1 tbsp. celery seed
1 tbsp. salt
1 c. salad oil
Pour over cabbage mixture while hot. Seal and refrigerate overnight. Very good.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Frozen vegetables | $1.79/pound
If a vegetable isn’t in season, opt for frozen. (canned is even cheaper)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. Ramen Noodles (10/$1.)
1. It's delicious!
Well, ramen taste great, that's a fact!
2. Low cost
One of the most important reason why ramen are so popular: instant noodles are really cheap, really. Even if we all agree that ramen taste great, let's be honest, 85.7 billion ramen meals would not be consumed every year if the product was 4 or 5 times more expensive. But good news, you can get them for as low as 0.10$ a pack in North America (cheapest ones we found right now are at costco) and for a pretty low cost too anywhere around the globe. If you don’t want to buy a 36 packs box, you can go to your local supermarket and get 4-8 for a dollar. To buy authentic ramen noodles, if you do not live in Asia, it should not be a problem in any large city.
3. Ready in five minutes
Like you can see in our “How to cook” section, instant noodles are ready in 5 minutes, on the oven, in the microwave or even with the coffee maker!
4. Healthy meal
As we all know, fruits and vegetables taste great! But, we’ll eat some tommorow, just not today. Well with ramen, as with any kind of pasta, you can add some healthy food with a great sauce to have a good and tasty meal!
5. Easy to cook
Basicly, if you know how to heat up water, you know how to cook instant noodles. As long as you don’t overcook, it should always be a great meal.

Use coupons, but use them wisely. Ask yourself these questions:
- If the product is more expensive than your usual brand, will the coupon still save you money?
- If you have to buy several of an item to use the coupon, will you be able to use it all before it goes bad?
- Will you have to drive out of your way to take advantage of the offer?
- If so, will you save more than you spend on gas?
- Do any of the supermarkets near you have a day when coupons are worth even more?

The Sacred Hill of Mandalay, Burma-Photos
Pilgrims applying gold leaf to the Maha Muni Buddha Mandalay, Burma Legends tell that Guatama Buddha once went to teach among the people of Dhannavati (now the northern Rakhine region of Burma/Myanmar). The king, Candra-suriya, requested that Guatama leave an image of himself for the benefit of the people. Buddha sat for a week of meditation under a Bodhi tree while Sakka, a king of the gods, created a life-like image of great beauty. Buddha was pleased with the image and decided to imbue it with his spiritual essence for a period of five thousand years.According to ancient tradition, only five likenesses of the Buddha were said to have been made during his lifetime: Two were in India, two in paradise, and the fifth is the Maha Muni or "Great Sage". Archaeologists believe the image was probably cast during the reign of King Chandra Surya, who ascended the throne in AD 146, some 600 years after the Buddha actually passed away. Little is known of the Maha Muni's travels over the next fifteen hundred years. It was stolen and moved around by various kings. At other times it was buried beneath a crumbling temple in a forgotten jungle. The image was brought to Mandalay in 1784 by King Bodawpaya and placed within the specially built Payagi Pagoda. Since that time it has been the most venerated Buddha image in all of Burma. The statue is 3.8 meters tall. Originally cast of metal, it is now entirely coated with a two-inch thick layer of gold leaf. So much gold leaf has been applied by so many different hands that the figure has developed an irregular outline. Many thousands of pilgrims visit the shrine each day and a great festival in early February draws hundreds of thousands. In a courtyard of the Payagi Pagoda, near the Maha Muni, are six Khmer bronze statues - three lions, a three-headed elephant and two warriors - that originally stood as guardians of Cambodia's Angkor Wat temple. The statues of the warriors are reputed to have miraculous healing qualities. Legends tell that rubbing a body part of either of the statues will cure an affliction in the corresponding part of your own body. When these statues were originally brought to the Maha Muni temple following a long and circuitous journey around southeast Asia, there were no healing legends associated with them. After centuries at the temple the statues came to be regarded as having healing powers, but nothing is known of when or how this legend began. It is fascinating to reflect that the healing powers of the statues seem to have been generated over time by the intention and beliefs of the countless thousands of visiting pilgrims. For some long-forgotten reason, sick persons once began rubbing the statues while making prayers for healing. These prayers have somehow charged or energized the statues with a power that is now held accountable for many thousands of incidents of miraculous healing. While most contemporary scientists will scoff at such an idea, the fact of the matter is that otherwise unexplainable healings have indeed occurred. We can offer no other explanation for this miraculous phenomenon, but remember that merely because conventional science cannot currently explain something does not mean it is impossible.

Genghis Kahn:Treasures of Inner Mongolia-photos

Genghis Khan was born in the early 1160's (it has been argued between 1162 and 1167, but recently agreement has been made for 1167), the son of the Kiyat-Borjigid chieftain Yisugei. He was named Temujen because, at the time of his birth, his father had captured a Tatar chieftain of the same name. Legend says that the newborn Temujen had a bloodclot in the palm of his hand, an omen that he was destined to be a hero.
When Temujen was a boy, his father was poisoned by a group of Tatars, and the Kiyat tribe broke up and scattered, abandoning their chief's family and leaving Temujen's mother, Ho'elun, to raise her children alone. Accounts of Temujen glorify him as intelligent, brave, and an adept fighter, even from an early age, and as such a potential threat to the leaders of other tribes of the steppe. As a young man, despite extreme hardships, he repeatedly met perils and endured crises through force of character and willpower.
In 1189, after he was elected the new leader of the Kiyat, he embarked on a series of military campaigns to unify the peoples of the steppe. In 1206, after a series of skilful victories, Temujen was acknowledged as supreme leader of the steppe at a khuriltai, a traditional meeting of tribal leaders to decide upon the future military and state matters. He was given the title of Genghis Khan meaning "emperor of all emperors" or "oceanic ruler". Genghis Khan's campaigns and those of his descendants led to the creation of an immense empire that stretched from Hungary to Korea.
According to legend, Genghis Khan passed through the Ordos area during his final battle campaign and was so taken with the beautiful grasslands that he dropped his horsewhip. When attendants went to fetch it, Genghis told them to let it be and expressed a desire to be buried in the Ordos grasslands. The attendants buried the horsewhip on the spot and erected a ceremonial stone mount over it. Since the early Qing dynasty (1614-1911), there has been a shrine to Genghis Khan's memory located at the site where this event is purported to have occurred.
